Editorial and Review Policy

This page explains how YardCalc content is created, checked, and corrected, and how we decide what is safe to publish as fact.

Content purpose

YardCalc content exists to help people estimate material accurately and understand the math behind the result. Tools and explanations are written for a general audience.

Formula and conversion standards

Calculators use standard, widely accepted formulas. Unit conversions use exact factors, such as 27 cubic feet per cubic yard, and these factors are covered by automated tests so they cannot drift. You can read the full calculation methodology.

Material data verification

Material density, coverage, and bag yields vary by product. We treat them as factual claims that must be sourced and reviewed before publication. Until a value is verified with a named source, it is not shown as an authoritative fact and is not used in results.

Source selection

When we publish material data, we prefer manufacturer documentation, government and educational references, and recognized engineering or industry sources. We record where a value came from.

Worked examples and generated tables

Worked examples are checked against the calculation engine, and reference tables such as coverage and conversion tables are generated by that engine rather than typed by hand. This keeps the numbers consistent with the formulas.

Review dates, corrections, and updates

Published pages carry a review date. When a formula or sourced value changes, we update the page, refresh its date, and update the relevant tests. If you spot an error, tell us and we will review it.

AI-assisted drafting and human verification

Some drafting may be assisted by software tools, but math, conversions, and any factual values are verified before publication. We do not publish unchecked numbers, densities, yields, prices, or recommendations as authoritative facts.

No invented experts

We do not invent author names or claim that a licensed professional reviews content unless that is actually true. When verified reviewers are in place, their roles will be described honestly.

Conflicts of interest and sponsored content

We keep editorial content separate from any future advertising or sponsorship. If sponsored content is ever published, it will be clearly labeled as such.

Affiliate disclosure for future content

YardCalc does not currently use affiliate links. If affiliate links are added in the future, the affected content will carry a clear disclosure, and a dedicated disclosure page will be published.
